Short break anyone?

Hi

Having done a few charity cycling events over the years it does get to the point when people will stop sponsoring you so I thought about just doing a short break next year without the need to meet targets etc. Whilst browsing I stumbled upon the following link:

https://www.skedaddle.co.uk/cycling/holiday/Cycling_Holidays/C2C_-_Sustrans_Coast_to_Coast__Challenge____-3_day_fundraising_special/477/view.rails

This is a 3 day holiday cycling trip that a third of the cost goes direct to Sustrans!

If anyone is interested I'd be looking to probably go around March/April time.

Post a comment or drop me an email at davids_sustrans@yahoo.co.uk

Group Xmas meal idea

It would seem that we're all getting keen on establishing the Warwickshire group back up and running more again and it's nice to have met some of you already. I was thinking that as well as the usual workdays etc it would be nice to get to know one another, discuss issues and make plans in a more relaxed atmosphere than stood in the rain with a pair of shearers or a spade so I'd like to suggest our first "social" could be an Xmas meal.
From the few people I've met so far it would seem that we're slighlty scattered so the following are some suggestions based upon area, price and myself having been to most of them. Once you've read this can you let me know by emailing me at davids_sustrans@yahoo.co.uk (it's an underscore between davids and sustrans!) if you'd be interested and which would be a preference to you, most votes wins basically!
  1. Loch Fyne in Kenilworth. £19.95 per head (see http://www.lochfyne-restaurants.com/ and click on PDF next to red box for menu). Also has hotel if anyone wanted to stayover.
  2. Saxon Mill in Warwick. £24.95 per head (see http://www.saxonmill.co.uk/static/resources/shared/xmas_festive_2012_p/festive_menu_p.pdf )
  3. Wildes in Leamington. A bit dearer at £30 per head but food is amazing here (see http://www.wildes.uk.com/christmas.html)
  4. Le Bistrote Pierre in Leamington. £24.95 per head. (see http://www.lebistrotpierre.co.uk/food-and-drink/christmas for how to download menu)
  5. Ego in Kenilworth. £24.95 per head. (see www.egorestaurants.co.uk/images/menus/76/xmas_dinner.pdf)
  6. Rose & Crown in Warwick. £26.95 per head. (see http://www.peach-events.co.uk/Customisation/4RoseAndCrown/Menus-SpecialOccasion.pdf). Also has rooms to stay.
  7. The Stag in Offchurch. £27.50 per head. (see http://www.thestagatoffchurch.com/Christmas_2012.html). Bit rural but great food, and on Route 41!
The above doesn't have to be the final list but I thought rather than having vast amounts of choices and then risking "3 people like one place, 2 like another, 3 like another" and so on it was easier to give a short list. I can vouch for all of them for their normal menus but I will hasten to add I haven't had Xmas meals at any. Mike replied suggesting that a week night might be better as all of his weekends are pretty much taken up so how does a Wednesday or Thursday sound (I doubt we'd get a Friday at this late stage)?

Look forward to hearing from everyone at their earliest convenience but please remember we do need to book soon to get a decent date in December.

David

Route 41 Stratford Signing Ride - Saturday 10th Nov

Hi all

Just to confirm Simon Stevens and I will be doing a signing ride on route 41 in Stratford this Saturday.

We'll be meeting at 10am at Charlecote Park (National Trust Property) about 4 miles out of Stratford and working our way into Stratford, past where it meets route 5, and onto where it meets the canal.

I've got all the signs and hopefully tools required, but extra eyes and brains is always helpful so if anyone else wants to join please let me know.  I will provide final confirmation on thursday, just in case weather looks lousy.

Let me know by email (paulelwell@hotmail.com) if joining, and if any problems on the day you can call me.  If you need to drive and ride there is parking around charlecote park.

many thanks,

paul

We have had a Landrover driving down the path at Long Itchington, the stretch we were working on last month. I had a phone call from a resident of long Itchington to tell me ha had seen one driving down the track. When I got there today I found that they had cut the chain on the gate and thrown the lock and chain into the undergrowth, they must have had some large bolt croppers with them. They then drove down the incline and had churned up the surface:
So can anyone who is down that way keep their eyes open and if you can get a registration number so much the better.
