It would seem that we're all getting keen on establishing the Warwickshire group back up and running more again and it's nice to have met some of you already. I was thinking that as well as the usual workdays etc it would be nice to get to know one another, discuss issues and make plans in a more relaxed atmosphere than stood in the rain with a pair of shearers or a spade so I'd like to suggest our first "social" could be an Xmas meal.
From the few people I've met so far it would seem that we're slighlty scattered so the following are some suggestions based upon area, price and myself having been to most of them. Once you've read this can you let me know by emailing me at davids_sustrans@yahoo.co.uk (it's an underscore between davids and sustrans!) if you'd be interested and which would be a preference to you, most votes wins basically!
- Loch Fyne in Kenilworth. £19.95 per head (see http://www.lochfyne-restaurants.com/ and click on PDF next to red box for menu). Also has hotel if anyone wanted to stayover.
- Saxon Mill in Warwick. £24.95 per head (see http://www.saxonmill.co.uk/static/resources/shared/xmas_festive_2012_p/festive_menu_p.pdf )
- Wildes in Leamington. A bit dearer at £30 per head but food is amazing here (see http://www.wildes.uk.com/christmas.html)
- Le Bistrote Pierre in Leamington. £24.95 per head. (see http://www.lebistrotpierre.co.uk/food-and-drink/christmas for how to download menu)
- Ego in Kenilworth. £24.95 per head. (see www.egorestaurants.co.uk/images/menus/76/xmas_dinner.pdf)
- Rose & Crown in Warwick. £26.95 per head. (see http://www.peach-events.co.uk/Customisation/4RoseAndCrown/Menus-SpecialOccasion.pdf). Also has rooms to stay.
- The Stag in Offchurch. £27.50 per head. (see http://www.thestagatoffchurch.com/Christmas_2012.html). Bit rural but great food, and on Route 41!
The above doesn't have to be the final list but I thought rather than having vast amounts of choices and then risking "3 people like one place, 2 like another, 3 like another" and so on it was easier to give a short list. I can vouch for all of them for their normal menus but I will hasten to add I haven't had Xmas meals at any. Mike replied suggesting that a week night might be better as all of his weekends are pretty much taken up so how does a Wednesday or Thursday sound (I doubt we'd get a Friday at this late stage)?
Look forward to hearing from everyone at their earliest convenience but please remember we do need to book soon to get a decent date in December.
David
